Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani Inaugurates the National Health Manufacturing Plant

Baghdad – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani inaugurated the National Health Manufacturing Plant on Saturday,which is affiliated with the Medical Clinics Department at the Ministry of Health. The plant is dedicated to producing medical supplies such as sterilized materials, dialysis solutions, and more.

Prime Minister al-Sudani commended the opening of this important plant, which aligns with the government’s program priorities and its vision to revitalize and localize the pharmaceutical industry to ensure its availability in Iraq. This step is aimed at achieving drug security and alleviating the burden on citizens.

The National Health Manufacturing Plant includes four production lines and works to meet the Ministry of Health’s needs for disinfectants, medical textiles (sheets, gowns, and surgical kits), as well as the production of dialysis solutions and high-quality plastic packaging in various sizes, all in compliance with international standards. The plant’s production capacity is four times the Ministry of Health’s needs

• After reviewing all the details of this plant, we can say that it will provide all the needs of health institutions; from disinfectants and sterilizers to hospital supplies and dialysis solutions.
• The importance of this achievement lies in its provision of materials that were previously imported from outside Iraq, which was accompanied by many problems faced by the Ministry of Health in securing them.
• Some hospitals were unable to provide dialysis solutions and required patients to provide them themselves.
• The plant was established in partnership with the popular clinics in the Ministry of Health, which is also a gain for the ministry as it has 15% of the plant’s product sales.
• The plant is ready to add more production lines to expand and provide the rest of the supplies needed by health institutions.
• Today, we are focusing on localizing the pharmaceutical industry because drug security is one of the most important requirements for the security of citizens and the security of the state in the face of economic crises and epidemics.
